Dear Friends
The Northern California Chinese Media Association is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization established in the year 1993. Our current membership includes 23 media outlets representing newspaper, magazine, electronic media, radio and television broadcasting. NCCMA is dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of the local Chinese community and keeping them abreast of current issues in the United States, Asia and the world.
NCCMA was established in 1992 when our Chinese Media predecessors felt the need to gather together all Chinese media to help Eastern and Southern China flood victims. Over the past 26 years, NCCMA members have reported on and raised funds for major disasters such as the Southeast Asia Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, China Sichuan Earthquake, Taiwan Earthquake and so on. Today our members continue to provide our audience with the latest news.
The passing of Mayor Ed Lee was a blow to the Chinese community of San Francisco, leaving much curiosity and anxiety as to the policies and direction an incoming Mayor would employ.
In response, the NCCMA, for the first time ever, was able to plan and hold a debate in 2018 between all mayoral candidates. As a result each candidate was able to make clear his or her intentions and desires for the San Francisco community through our media members’ TV, radio , newspapers and electronic media coverage, and providing the Chinese community with a well informed basis for casting their vote.
NCCMA will continue to serve our community and we hope our community friends will continue to support us. Thanks
Very Truly Yours,
Dr. James Yu
President
